Chris Capone

Chris Capone has been working real hard on his new blog site entitled ChrisCapone.com. It is the 'great gangster's blog' all the while being 'gangster fabulous'. You see, Chris Capone is the grandson of the notorious gangster Al Capone.

Chris discovered his legacy at the age of 13 and he put it all down in his book 'Son of Scarface' (website - article with more photos of Chris). And what's really interesting for us is that Chris is a really super cute looking Bear.

I asked Chris what his blog was about and he responded that it's a little of everything and anything. His topics range from the current political debate to talking about what's going on in the entertainment world, all the while interjecting his own opinions and insights. The site is updated all the time so it's definitely something you need to check out, sometimes even twice a day.

Also, I know that Chris is working on something TV related although the cat is not completely out of the bag yet. It's either a reality-like show involving Chris or it might have something to do with Chris being the head of a mob group. Once I know more, I'll pass the news on.

BearParty Mag

The fall issue of BearParty Mag (website - articles - profile) by the makers of CyberBears is now available and should be hitting your local Bear Bar. There are 25,000 copies printed so surely you can find a copy of one somewhere (cover).

Not Too Fat To Execute

Richard Cooey is not too fat to be executed. Awhile back (article), PlanetBears mentioned that death row inmate Richard Cooey was making a plea that he was too fat to be executed for a double murder he committed over 22 years ago. At 5'7 and 267 pounds, he was worried that they will not be able to execute him properly due to bad veins from his obesity. His plea, however, was not accepted and Cooey was executed as scheduled, so says this CNN story.

Woobie Bear Music

Bear Pride Cologne

Put on your spurs and grab your lasso then get ready for the upcoming Bear Pride Cologne (website - articles) and this year's motif is 'Country Bears'. The event takes place in Cologne, Germany (Bear Capital) from November 18th thru the 23rd. This is a full week of Bear goodness.

"This year's International German Bear Pride Cologne offers all that a Bear world could ask for: fabulous parties, great dinners, interesting trips, cozy coffee parties, hot Bear saunas and a fantastic Bear show at the Bear Night with the Mr. Bear Germany contest. Each day of the week there will be a Bear sauna and Bear party. This year's theme 'Country Bears' will be presented by our incomparable Show-master Bernd von Fehrn".

Christophe Jannin

Christophe Jannin's (profile) work has been getting more and more intricate with time and his drawings more detailed and rich with life and colour, all the while holding true to his Bearish roots.

His latest project is quite angelic, literally. Chris has been drawing an Archangel triptych with Gabriel, Michael and Raphael, and the 1st one for us to see is that of Michael (view here). On it reads "Parcere subjectis et debellare superbos" which means "Spare the weak, crush the powerful", a direct reference to what St. Michael's nature signifies.

We will post the other 2 from this set very soon, however make sure to visit his site and read his blog (in French) which goes into much more detail about these wonderful vivid drawings of his. And if you're French is a bit rusty, then join his mailing list and he'll send you these new drawings to you in your email and in English as well. Also take a look at past articles written of him. Chris is seriously one of the cutest artists alive, yes?

Elijah Black

Elijah Black is one hot Bearish musician who has been real busy of late making some great stuff. Now you might remember seeing Elijah as he was part of the Bear-quintet that made up Bears on the Run... or you might have seen him playing a gig at Bearapalooza. Well lately Elijah has been working with his band and the results are quite phenomenal.

He has recently completed a new video from his April '08 CD 'Better Man' and its from his song 'Smile for Me'. You can see the video here on YouTube (here's Elijah's YouTube page) and from someone who listens to music all day long (that be me), when I heard this song the very thing I did was turn it up. This is just brilliant, and he's got such a voice, such talent. You need to check it out.

Also, there's some voting going on at Logo Online - you get to vote for your favourite video, and yup, Elijah's video is there for you guys to vote for. Check out the other videos if you like (there's a lot of them) but you will have to admit that Mr. Black has a voice that can soothe any hardened heart. He has definitely put a smile on my face.

Bear With Me

As we catch up in Bear With Me world ~ one on end, Andy has cut all ties with his mother and has pulled out his stocks from the business which looks like it just might ruin the rich Constance. He has done this because he found out that it was his mother that ran his boyfriend Paul out of town. So now Andy has to go off and find Paul and win his heart back. Meanwhile, Paul has decided that he no longer can deal with his crazy family and prepares to set off on his own.

The story continues to intrigue and this cartoon is one of the very sites I check out every Monday, a toon done by Bruin (articles - profile).

Britain's Next Bear Model

It's episode #3 in 'Britain's Next Bear Model'. This great show is headed by Jonathan Robinson (articles - profile) who has made a ton of Bearish videos in the past few years which you can check out from his YouTube page as well as his site FunFur.tv. In conjunction is EuroWoof and the Manchester Bears ManBears who have also been contributing to this fun show.

Right now we're still getting to know the 8 contestants as they all bunk up in a flat together. There's little romances forming here and there, all the while we're hearing touches of gossip. Remember - these men are there to win and to be the very first Bear Model.

How this works is that you watch the shows and you vote for your favourite contestant. In a few weeks, 3 will be chosen to move on to the finals. It's great fun as these cute Bearish men rival, and some of these guys are superbly cute. Stay tuned (and if you haven't been following, here's an article about episode #1 and an article on episode #2).

Fat 'n Furry

"Once upon a time a Bear wanted a special t-shirt... and Fat 'n Furry was born. This site was designed with Beary blokes in mind..." and so begins the Beary Fairy tale of this new site which designs t-shirts for Bearish men. Right now, the shop isn't open up quite yet. They are working on making sure everything is in order. However if you want to know when the site is open for business, email them and they'll let you know.

Make sure to check out Britain's Next Bear Model episode #3 and you'll see a 'Fat 'n Furry' photo shoot with the 8 contestants. On their main page you'll see the shots taken from that shoot. I'm hoping they will post more pics of those cute UK models and in a bit more higher resolution.

Bear-Pics Amateur Gallery

[Members - click here] When I used to run Bear-Pics.com (from '00 to '06), I had a section for Amateur photos. What this section consisted of was a slew of pics sent in by a bunch of cute Bearish guys. Over those years, this section grew as more and more good looking men sent in their homebrewed pics. However, once I closed the doors to Bear-Pics, all those photos were taken down.

What I decided to do today on PlanetBears was put these photos back up, and so far I added 498 pics from 24 husky hot guys. There's still more photos that I need to add which I will do very soon. I am also trying to figure out the best way on how I want to layout these galleries, however for now I just bunched them up and placed them into 2 areas.

Now on the flipside of things, I want to breathe life back into this Amateur section - so if you have pics of yourself you'd like to share, then email them in or use the contact form. If they get used, in exchange I will give you a year's membership to PlanetBears. Send in more pics later on and you'll get another year free, it's as simple as that.

Britain's Next Bear Model #2

Last week we told you about a new show called 'Britain's Next Bear Model' (article) which consists of 8 guys living in the same room as they compete to be UK's newest Bear model.

In episode #1, we got to meet 5 of the 8 contestants, and even though I try to remain as biased as possible, I did slip in that I thought Steve was cute (well, so is Alan... and so is Kris... however Steve definitely wins the Daddy Bear vote). Well in the newest episode (#2), the final 3 competitors have entered, and say hello to Raff (woof) Leopold (double woof) Sean (triple woof). Yes, Sean is now a new favourite of mine... however it's not up to me who is going to win this thing, it's up to you.

You need to head on over to either EuroWoof (you need to register) or even better, just head on over to the FunFur.tv forum (no registration needed) and cast your vote on who you think should first make it to the top 3 to finally down to #1. This is episode 2 out of 7, so keep watching as things begin to heat up now that all the cuteys are together.

Bear Degeneration

Have you been following the Bear Degeneration chronicles...? I hope so because we are now up to #10 in the English series. See it here - page #1 - page #2 - page #3 - page #4. In this episode, Doctor Puzak meets up with DarkDom, the evil police captain of Fatterland. If he doesn't like you, you're forked.

Bear Degeneration is the creation of the ever so cute and huggable Italian artist Perdido (website - profile). He has been creating these cartoons in Italian and he's up to episode #17 (and his drawing technique have been changing and improving all the while). So if you're good in Italian, then check out this page from his Blog. When I saw the cartoons, I was seriously curious what the story was about, so I have been helping Perdido with translating the toon over into English, and so far we've done 10.

Roger's Galleries

[Members - click here , here, here and here ~~~ preview #1, preview #2, preview #3, preview #4] A few months back, I was working on the BearFoot site, and I realized, after putting a few months of work into it, that I was spreading myself too thinly; I just didn't have the necessary time to efficiently work on yet another website.

My goal with that site was to add Roger's (galleries - videos - profile) photos and videos there, and I did manage to place a bunch of photos, a lot of them not seen anywhere else. Now, since I was putting my time and energy into BearFoot and not into the PlanetBears galleries, well I wasn't adding any photos to PlanetBears and some members were getting restless. So... I decided to therefore allow PlanetBears members to 'preview' BearFoot. I made a call in the news stating that all PlanetBears members should contact me and in turn I would give them a temporary user/pw.

Well, after making this call 2 times in the news and once in the newsletter, I would say only 1/10th of the PlanetBears members contacted me in order to get their temp user/pw... which led me to conclude that not many people read what's on the net. I could probably write anything I want and get away with it since people seem to be skipping the text in favour of looking at the pics and videos. I'm not passing judgement, I'm much the same way.

BearBound

It's Friday which means there is always something new to be found over at BearBound (preview). This site is one of the very first webpages that devoted itself to seeing the cutest husky Bears being tied up in a bunch of interesting ways, with new videos and photo shoots every Friday. The site is maintained by Dart (website - profile). And look at the articles PlanetBears have written about BearBound in the past. Can you tell we dig this site? Here's a new drawing from the Spanish Bear Yotto Bano (article). You can see more of his 'Graffiti & Urban Bear Art' over at one of the coolest Bear blog names yet - it's called UrsaLaLaLa. Yotto even sent in a 'TubeBear drawing' awhile back, and so can you. Check out this article which will explain on how you can have your artwork displayed on TubeBear as well. You don't even need a profile nor a website... just the art.

Got Fur? ~ Best of the Bears

Got Fur? (website - you need to register - it's free) is once again holding their 'Best of the Bears' ballot. What this means is that you get to first nominate and then vote for what you think are the 'Best of...' in several Bearish categories. In 2006 (article) it was Bear411 that won for best website. In 2007 (article) it was BearCiti. Who's it gonna be for 2008...?

Joe Falconi

His real name is Joe Mannetti however many of you know him as Joe Falconi (photo - courtesy of Lee Friend of Talk Magazine) . He has been the heartthrob to many a Bear lover as he's appeared in quite a few photo shoots, magazines and Bear movies. You might even remember seeing him for a few seconds on Conan O'Brien (altho much to the dislike of CyberBears).

Well Joe has been a very busy Bear of late, especially with the ton of work he puts into the GLBT community. You should check out this article on The Complete Bear (website - profile) to see all the things he has been up as well as all the things he'll be doing.

Oh - he also just won the Mr. Los Angeles Bear '08 title held by BearsLA at Oil Can Harry's last September 13th. A huge congratulations goes to him.

On a personal note, I have always found Joe super duper cute ever since I first saw his photos on BearBound (preview pics of Joe - articles - profile). There's something about him that just captures your eye... and keeps it focused on him. I'm sure we'll be hearing more from him in the upcoming future.

Beef Mag #38

The newest edition of Beef Magazine (cover - website - profile) is out - issue #38, and with each passing edition, this magazine gets better and better.

First off, editor Scott McGillivray (articles) talks about the end of the world which will be December 21st 2012... didn't he know...? Turn the page and you got a great 'BeerCan and Saurus' cartoon by Brutus (YouTube page) - this one is just classic - "it's so nice of you Amish people to give us a ride!"... ok... onto the men... there's Joe and Jake for your viewing pleasure, and there's a feature on the magic of Minoru (website - articles). Pick it up at your local adult shop or get it online via subscription on their site.

Beefy Oops

PlanetBears got a Beefy Oops... in the latest Beef Mag #38. You see, in the previous issue, Beef (website - profile) did a feature on us, entitle 'Sexy Beasts - the Big, Beautiful, Burly Bruisers of PlanetBear.com'... if you notice, they forgot the 's' --- it should be PlanetBear'S' not PlanetBear. So we got an Oops for that in the latest issue, which is very cool of Beef to do so... it put a smile on my face because... in a way... we got featured all over again, in a small but cute and furry way.
